PDFsimple wants you to be satisfied with your purchase. This Refund Policy describes your rights and the conditions under which refunds are granted. Payments are processed by our Merchant of Record, Paddle, which also appears as the seller on your card statement.
1. Overview
PDFsimple offers a one-time Day Pass and auto-renewing subscription plans (Weekly and Monthly). This policy explains when and how you can obtain a refund. All payments and refunds are processed by Paddle, our authorized reseller and Merchant of Record, in compliance with applicable payment regulations.
2. 14-day money-back guarantee
New subscribers may request a full refund within 14 calendar days of their first payment for any plan, for any reason. To qualify: the refund request must be submitted within 14 days of the initial charge date; the guarantee applies to a customer’s first purchase of a PDFsimple paid plan only; and only one money-back refund is granted per customer account. Subsequent purchases, upgrades, or plan changes are not eligible for the money-back guarantee and are subject to the renewal refund policy in Section 3.
3. Renewals & cancellations
This section applies to the Weekly and Monthly subscription plans. Subscriptions renew automatically at the start of each billing period (weekly or monthly) using the payment method on file. You can cancel anytime from your Dashboard under Billing. Cancellation stops future automatic renewals; you retain full access to your plan features through the end of the current paid period. Charges for renewal periods are generally non-refundable once the renewal has been processed, except where required by applicable law (see Section 8 for EU / UK consumer rights). To avoid an unwanted renewal charge, cancel before your next billing date. The Day Pass is a one-time purchase, not a subscription: it does not renew, has no billing cycle to cancel, and will not charge your payment method again after the initial purchase.
4. How to request a refund
To request a refund, email us at [email protected] with: (1) the email address associated with your PDFsimple account, and (2) the transaction or receipt ID from the Paddle invoice email you received. You may also initiate a refund request directly from the receipt email sent by Paddle after your purchase. We aim to respond within 2 business days.
5. Refund processing & timing
Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method through Paddle. Processing typically takes 5–10 business days to appear on your bank or card statement, depending on your financial institution. Refunds include any VAT or applicable tax that was collected at the time of purchase. Paddle will send a confirmation email once the refund has been issued.
6. Non-refundable situations
We may decline a refund request in the following situations: requests submitted after the eligible window (outside 14 days for first purchases, or for renewal charges beyond what mandatory law requires); accounts suspended or terminated for violations of our Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy; suspected fraudulent activity or repeated refund abuse across multiple accounts; and per-use API credits that have already been consumed. Declining a refund in these circumstances does not limit any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection law.
7. Free plan
PDFsimple’s Free plan does not involve any payment, so no refunds apply. You may stop using the Free plan at any time without any obligation.
8. EU / UK consumer rights
Nothing in this Refund Policy limits or waives your statutory consumer rights under applicable law. In particular, EU consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal for digital services under the Consumer Rights Directive; UK consumers have equivalent rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Where mandatory local law grants broader refund or withdrawal rights than those described in this policy, those statutory rights take precedence and will be honored in full.
