Privacy in 30 seconds
We collect the minimum data needed to run the Service. Files you upload are deleted automatically when your plan’s retention window ends. We never sell your data, and we never look at the contents of your documents.
This Privacy Policy explains how PDFsimple (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our Service. By using PDFsimple you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect three categories of information: (a) account data you provide such as email, name, and password hash; (b) usage data such as IP address, browser, device type, pages visited, and tools used; and (c) the files you upload temporarily for processing.
2. How we use information
We use information to operate, maintain, and improve the Service; to communicate with you about your account, security, and product updates; to detect abuse and prevent fraud; and to comply with legal obligations.
3. Files you upload
Uploaded files are processed only to perform the action you requested (merge, split, compress, etc.). Files processed entirely in your browser never leave your device. Files uploaded through account, storage, or API features are retained according to the retention period associated with your plan and are deleted automatically when that period ends. We do not open, read, share, or train any system on the contents of your files.
4. Cookies & tracking
We use a small set of essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. Where advertising is enabled, consent for non-essential cookies is collected through a Google-certified consent management platform for visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland.
5. Advertising & Google AdSense
We may use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Users may manage or opt out of personalized advertising through Google's advertising settings.
6. Sharing & disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with vetted service providers (hosting, payment, email delivery) under data-processing agreements, and when required by law in response to a valid legal request.
7. Data retention
Account data is kept while your account is active. Uploaded files are retained according to your plan and deleted automatically when that period ends: Free plan – 2 hours, Day Pass, Weekly, and Monthly – 7 days, and the API Sandbox tier – 1 hour. Aggregated analytics are kept up to 24 months. You can delete your account at any time and all associated data will be erased within 30 days.
8. Security
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). We follow industry best practices for access control, secrets management, and incident response. No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to keep yours safe.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, as well as the right to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact [email protected].
10. International transfers
Our infrastructure is hosted in Singapore and the EU. When data is transferred across regions we use standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
11. Children
PDFsimple is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us so we can remove it.
